Not sure if this is relevant, but I have noticed that if I don't set the transition blending to at least 2 (yes TWO) frames in max design 2011, then I lose my z-offset altogether, for ALL animations/transitions.

Joe

Animation in 3ds Max:: Hello
Hi semi-pro_wr,

I can't help you there, as I am self taught. In Great Britain 3ds Max courses are very expensive. However I have done a lot of animation, but not with characters.

You basically set keyframes. Move your object and set another key. The computer works out the frames inbetween.

Here is one of my animations
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKSOdGRYwCI&feature=channel

I am ok with robots LOL

Asimov

Hi haga_da,

I agree with george_monsoon. Although you can use splines as well as nurb curves. A path constraint is definitely the way to go. Although you can also use a dummy and a link constraint for different camera movement.

Asimov

Animation in 3ds Max:: connect bones with mesh
I been spending a week trying to get my first guy done and my big problem is sometimes I get a bone that flips out on me and dont know how to fix. I been doing a digital tutors tutorial and man im ready to be finished with this. lol I have 1 thing left to do then starting my enveloping thats why I been so quiet lately.

its a great tutorial though it covers more than the basic throwing in the bones it covers all the controllers and tons of extra params to add. lol 75 videos worth and i am only on video 55.

Thanks!!
yeah! Thats the way I wanted to do.
Though I was not thinking about applying a diffuse map but an opacity map.
The thing is in what I wanted to do
each particle need to have its own material (with diffuse, opacity... maps)
And another Opacity map to the whole particle system (Just an animated opacity map)

You know like in those particle dispersion animations, yet the particles shouldn't move
they should just appear

Can I apply just an Opacity map for the whole system without a diffuse map????

Hi sorry i haven't posted for a while again. The design has changed now. instead of a iphone 3g its not a iphone 4 and its just going to be renders of it in landscape and portrate with the corresponding images. I can't share the work at the moment because the person who wants it doing hasn't got all the patents and stuff and wants it kept quiet, sorry.

Animation in 3ds Max:: Can anybody render this, or is it because my computer is rubbish
Hi George_Monsoon,

Now the only problem is that you live about 120 miles away, so it isn't so easy to just pop in and pick them up LOL. Do you know how much postage would be. I would only need 2 at most, as I haven't got the room for any more. At present I have one quad core doing my rendering. Do you think using that and another 2 computers would do the trick or what. I am a render farm newby LOL.

Asimov

Animation in 3ds Max:: Need library of .bip files for biped crowd
they are out there on the net, but you must dig deep.
There probably aren't that many people out there that have the tools to capture motion. I believe the starter kit is about 10k, and thats just for basics.

Best way to do this is film yourself, place the movie as a viewport and use the movement frame by frame to rotoscope onto your dummy. It does take a bit longer than using someone elses work, but you will get just what you need and it will be much more fulfilling.
