Hi all,

I have heard of something called zbrush. Can it be used in conjunction with max or is it just another piece of 3d modelling software. Has anyone here used it?

I have recently downloaded Zbrush, and it's actually both. It's seperate modeling, painting etc program BUT you can import Max models to it for further modeling etc. It's a rather confusing program at first but after awhile I'm sure it's quite comfortable to use.

You can download a 30day trial of the program if you're interested in using it from http://www.pixologic.com/zbrush/trial/

And Zbrush does look like a really good program, I have seen some of the images it's capable of producing and damn they're good. There's also some videos on the site somewhere quickly showcasing what it can produce.

I've tried Xbrush 2.0 before and just couldn't wrap my head around the UI. It reminds me of Blender in a way because they decided to create their own 3D lingo for everything. I'm sure it's great though.

Zbrush looks great but I think it will be confusing to use. I used it for maybe 30mins the other day and was confused, so I left it for the day. Blender was also confusing to use, but I'm sure if you use them enough you'll be fine with them.

Yep, very confusing. If you can get a trial of Mudbox by Autodesk, try that too. It does the same thing and the controls are more similar to 3ds max and/or Maya depending on your UI settings.

Hi Dave,

Think I will steer clear of it for a while. Got enough stuff to learn at the moment LOL.

I don't blame you, but then again you might flourish in that environment.
